SOUND FROM THE OTHER SIDE
I didn't expect this much of a crowd to make it out. I mean, the store is usually packed at our events, but tonight Port was filled to capacity. Beer? We packed it. Sangria? It was all there. When I walked in to the shop Moon was set up already, and I met the psychedelic rock duo outside while they sat smoking cigarettes and waiting for people to flow in. 4th Street Fridays in Long Beach beats whatever Netflix show you're watching at home with your cat on your lap. You can almost smell the food being cooked and you can listen as people celebrate a work week with drinks and conversation. Once the sun goes down, Long Beach comes alive. Free beer at Port and everyone is passing through. I think people get stoked when the store is open outside of business, and seeing familiar faces tells me that this place brings in the waiting crowd. At around 8 pm, the dudes from Moon played their tunes while more and more people stumbled in. The duo is comprised of Cody Hayduk and Greg Perez, who play their instruments like they just transcended dimensions and happened to be the only ones to notice. The guitar washed over people like a classic rock memory, with blues and snare filled drum breakdowns to shake things up. Acid trip vibes. Strangers milled in and not out, with @t_lord’s art and limited time merchandise on display. Beers in hand, and a Friday night just beginning to kick off, the store stayed open hours after closing, and nobody seemed to want to leave. We didn't either.
